Irredel

Character Description

Cleric. Dark, slightly wavy hair in a severe bun; plain gray wool coat. Carries the Sunrise Medallion relic. Since the 9th of Neyavr dreams and curse progression: visibly taller and stronger, heavier build, increased forearm and neck hair, and episodes of fever and hunger. Confirmed lycanthrope; uses wolfsbane and, when needed, silver shackles in St. Andral's Church basement. Party removed synthetic moonstone shards that counteracted wolfsbane before the Session 22 full moon.

Party Relations

In the party: Sildir's employee—audits his estates and taxes; moral and magical counterweight to his impulses.

Ally Dynamic
Sildir Keeps his books honest; Commanded him to grovel before Strahd; carried by him when fever collapsed her after the windmill
Saturno Closest combat ally—Game of Stories bond; channels buffs and Voice of Authority in fights
Mercurio Dry asides about Sylalys; both tend the wounded, different methods
Ember Quiet early bond (hayloft socks); Ember helps manage curse-adjacent risks (moonstone cache)
Sylalys Parallel operator—Irredel holds Party Hideout when the main group marches; Sylalys guards allies at church during Court raids

Party role: Primary healer, curse expert, and party alarm for enchantment—pastries, trances, bone-throne pull.

Personality

Severe, pragmatic, and secretly soft—appraises mansions in gold but buries the dead with rites. Tells fables to defuse tavern fights (Crane Wife at the Blue Water Inn). Will override allies for diplomacy (Silence on Sildir only; "Your Excellency" to Strahd). Under curse pressure, drawn to power offers others refuse; told the party she beat the full moon through sheer will while withholding what happened in the bone-throne vision.

Character arc

Entered as the accountant who feared Durst Manor was a sacrifice. Became the party's cleric through village siege, Strahd road, and gallows aftermath—then contracted lycanthropy on the approach to Vallaki. Dr. Rudolph van Richten's suppression, wolfsbane, and Court moonstone exposure turned her arc into a horror thread: dreams of a bone-throne woman, enthrallment at the moon chamber, and a midnight bite that maimed Sildir. She claims victory over the beast inside; the party does not know what she accepted in the vision. Preparing Dispel Magic for windmill megalith corruption as of Session 22—still healer, still hiding the cost.

How we met
