Mercurio
Character Description
Aasimar bard. Blonde hair, blue eyes, dapper mustache; pink outer suit jacket. Scarf worn as ascot (relic garment). Carries drink, fiddles with loot, and performs on harpsichord or amber magical flute (gift from Sylalys; attuned focus). Holds the Tome of Strahd after identifying and attuning it in St. Andral's Church—triggers shared historical visions when read.
Party Relations
In the party: Social glue—freed from Sildir's boat with Ember and Saturno; mediates, charms, and covers allies' mistakes.
| Ally | Dynamic |
|---|---|
| Saturno | Sworn charge—she guards him and his family; he covers her outbursts and social slips |
| Sildir | Friction over Eliza's execution; still revives and supports him; mediates his fights with Sylalys |
| Ember | Close partner on cons, infiltrations, and distraction plays |
| Irredel | Asks if the books cover drinks; both read magical threats from different angles |
| Sylalys | Mediates his spats with Sildir; attuned Sylalys's flute; performed with his lyre at Durst Manor |
Party role: Face, debuffer, and occult investigator—taverns, manors, and church attics turned into leverage and lore.
Personality
Charming, theatrical, and occasionally full of it—invented House Raven vs. Flamingo heraldry and pocketed Champagne du le Stomp from every kitchen. Genuine empathy beneath the performance (Waltz for Klara, grief over Eliza, comforted sobbing Baron Vargas Vallakovich after the coup). Celestial Revelation in wolf fights shows anger when friends are endangered. Curiosity pulls him toward locked tomes and captivating melodies he cannot explain.
Character arc
Started as the freed captive who chased his scarf into the mist. Durst Manor music and Barovia Village funerals taught him the land's grief; catching Abraham at Kolyan Indirovich's funeral foreshadowed Strahd's reach. Bebito and Madame Eva's reading tied him to prophecy; Eliza's death split him from Sildir's hard justice. In Vallaki he became the party's negotiator—inn contacts, Fiona decoy, Baron deception, and Session 22's persuasion bringing Lady Fiona Wachter to Victor's ritual. Tome of Strahd attunement opened a new chapter: shared dreams of young Strahd and a direct line into the depose-Strahd spine he has carried since Tser Pool.
