Sildir

Character Description

Older half-elf paladin. Ornate customized chain mail; longer hair; fights with a rapier. Carries the Raven's Feather relic. Left arm amputated below the elbow after Irredel's werewolf bite on the 9th of Neyavr full moon—Dr. Rudolph van Richten performed the surgery; Ember offered to build a prosthetic. Also wields Ezmerelda d'Avenir's loaned silver shortsword at times.

Party Relations

In the party: Founder of the pre-Barovia group—freed Ember, Mercurio, and Saturno; hired Irredel to audit his wealth.

Ally Dynamic
Irredel Employee and foil—often overrules or silences him (Strahd road); he carried her home from the windmill; lost his arm stopping her full-moon turn
Mercurio Ongoing tension over Eliza's execution; still relies on his heals and revives in fights
Sylalys Long hayloft feud (accidental stab); shared oaths at Durst Manor partly cooled it
Ember Traded her the cloak of protection; she offers to build his prosthetic arm
Saturno Hauls her on the sled when tranced; kneeled with her to swear against the Durst evil

Party role: Tank, face, and default leader—coups, hunts, Strahd boons, and the heaviest negotiation calls.

Personality

Law-and-vengeance driven; swore Oath of Vengeance to Torm and rejected a second divine voice offering a darker champion path. Insults tyrants to their faces (Strahd's two "points"); executes spies when gods urge him. Honorable in small ways—offered to pay for trespass damage, traded cloak of protection to Ember, objected to refugee tolls. Carries guilt about the boat years; channels it into protecting the party and Barovians who cannot protect themselves.

Character arc

From trafficking-enabler captain to penitent paladin: Durst Manor beast, Torm's oath, and village siege defined his early Barovia. Marked by Strahd, he escalated into gallows execution of Eliza and a rift with Mercurio that still echoes. Became the face of the Fiona coupIzek kill proof, Wachterhaus negotiation, and the Session 20 boon securing peace for Barovia Village. Dreams on the 9th replayed helplessness and tempted him with the rejected god's voice again. The full moon cost him his arm to save Irredel from fully turning—physical price of his role as the party's shield. Now adapting to fight one-handed with the winery march ahead.
